They were still holding me.
The sudden awareness that we were alone only added to the tingle in my gut. I had an urge to reach for one of them, to pull them closer. Hell, I think I wanted to pull them both close to me. They smelled heavenly like the expensive cologne I found in a department store once while visiting New York. It was the sort of stuff a guy wearing Armani might wear who drove a Porsche to work.
Without thinking, I leaned a little closer to Adonis to get a better hint of what he was wearing. It smelled rich and vibrant like moss with just a hint of patchouli. He smelled like every fantasy I had ever had about princes riding through the forest, coming to my rescue.
I shook my head. Okay, that needs to stop, Alex. This is just two guys accompanying you. They're not knights or princes.
As I listened to the music playing over the speaker of the elevator, I felt him, Adonis, shift like he was moving closer to me. I could almost feel his breath on my neck. I closed my eyes and honed in on the sensation, feeling him move my hair aside, and his fingers brush against my skin as his eyes trailed over every inch of me.
It was strange, but that made it all the more enticing. Markos moved on my right and I think he might have been moving my hair, too. My eyes snapped open with the ring of the elevator. I stared at the wall of mirrors surrounding us. Neither of them had moved.
Weird, I thought. Maybe being a virgin for too long has gone to my head.
I put on a movie star smile and watched the doors slide open, already basking in the idea of being caught on the arms of two guys. We strode out from the elevator and went through the lobby, inviting all manner of stares. I recognized nearly everybody in attendance. I mean, I'd met most of Nico's family before he dumped me for his new woman.
It was fine—I was the winner now. I was the one on top.
When we got outside, I was met by the oceanic breeze and the sight of birds floating overhead. The entire hotel was surrounded by sand and water, inviting me to inhale the wonderful scents around me. The wind whipped my hair around my shoulders. I hoped to the gods that I looked like a goddess instead of a confused model trying to figure out how to pose in front of a fan.
We followed a paved path all the way around the hotel to the back where I found a hundred or so white chairs decorating a covered area.
“Fuck,” I groaned.
“Is there a problem?” Markos asked.
“I shouldn't have worn these heels.”
“They look fabulous. Just sit here at the back so you don't trip,” Adonis suggested.
He held my hand as I went for a seat, settling in as daintily as possible. When I was seated, they both bowed to me. Adonis stayed close to my ear. I could feel his breath on my lobe and it caused me to shudder.
At least I could pretend it was the wind.
“Meet us after the shindig,” he whispered.
It was as alluring as it was commanding. Something about the way he winked as they both walked away casually made me feel giddy. There was nothing casual about that. Hell, there was nothing casual about how I was feeling.
Because I definitely wanted to meet them after this shindig.
